Keiichi Watanabe is a professor and Dean of Faculty of Agriculture in Saga University. He completed his doctoral course in agricultural chemistry at the Faculty of Agriculture at Kyushu University in 1983. After graduation, he participated in research work at Max-Planck-Institut für und Genetik Max Planck Institut für molekulare Genetik in West Germany for two years. After working as an assistant in the Faculty of Agriculture at Kyushu University, he was hired as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Agriculture at Saga University in 1988. He later was promoted to professorship in 2002. Since 2013, he has been heading the Faculty of Agriculture with a specialty in biochemistry. He is also currently promoting local agriculture as the chairman of the Agricultural Policy Council in Saga Prefecture. In addition, Dr. Watanabe has served as the leader of academic matters in promoting IT Agriculture with OPTiM and Saga Prefecture since 2015.
